Counting down to WHAT?
So the bug — or virus, or spyware, or, whatever it is — is now apparently counting down to something, and that something looks like it's going to happen while I am somewhere in Szechuan province and I can't fix it and yeah it's creeping me out and yeah I'm not happy about this. (The recent appearance of words like "mayday", "metastasize", "hemorrhage," and "classified" isn't cheering me up, either.)
What the hell is this thing. And why would a site as harmless, I mean utterly and completely harmless, as www.ilovebees.com attract its attention?

Don't worry honey, there's a group of us (some have already posted) willing to comb through the morass and help ease the sting of this violation of your website. We've got a sort of hive-mind, if you will, that has busted through problems such as this in the past - we're all avid workers in that regard.

More information: Well, first of all, yes, I did put a "...days to china" counter on the site, a tiny one below the fold. Sort of a persistent thank-you... Aunt M is the fairy godmother of my trip. But MY countdown has suddenly become this THING's countdown... it's barreling towards a different time and date now, and I've certainly never described my departure as "wide awake and physical."
Actually, the more I poke around it, the more it looks like everything on the site has been hijacked. Everything I built or uploaded is still there, it's just been... repurposed.
And yeah, I keep thinking I'm seeing and hearing "i love bees" everywhere, too. I guess the feeling of hallucinating is contagious.
Anyway, I just want to say: when the site meltdown first happened, it was extremely startling, and overwhelming. Finding out now that there are so many people out there willing to throw their oar into this mess, well — that's startling and overwhelming, too... but in a good way. A really good way. Thanks.

The countdown bug on your website should be quite easy to fix.
it's all genetrated below the html tag . heres the code that is generated: If you remove it and re-upload the page, that should be fixed.
if it comes back, scan your server wits a spyware and/or virus removal application to see if there is unusual files that could generate that bug.

If you remove it, the countdown pop up will not appear anymore, unless a virus or a spyware regenerates it.
If that's the case, you should explore the root folder containing your site for suspect files, or run an antivirus/spyware scanner on it.

There seems to be something more here than just a common bug. An entity of some type seems to be using your Aunt's pages to communicate. In searching the site I have found oddly placed text describing a shipwreck and someone (a woman, the Operator, possibly you, Dana?) being trapped behind enemy lines. There are numerous references to insects and arachnids and you, on your blog, have quoted Kafka's "Metamorphosis."
Before focusing on "the bug (cockroach?), or virus, or spyware, or, whatever it is" I would feel much more confident in searching for a solution before the countdown reaches zero if I knew that you were not "the operator," "the spider" or Gregor Samsa.
Do you need help?
If you are indeed not in troubled and perfectly sane, is it possible that someone or something is using your Aunt's site to get to you?
Have you worked on any other projects?
Have you made any enemies (or friends) who would be capable of such mayhem?
Lots of very specific tech questions and advice coming in lately, think I'll try to address it all in one fell swoop here.
1. The site is hosted using a standard ISP. I really don't want to get too specific given that not all of the attention I've received lately has been what you'd call benevolent. Sorry. That's just the way it is.
2. Nothing unusual about the logs. Good suggestion, though. Will continue to monitor.
3. As recommended, tried deleting my own countdown script. Didn't work. Saved the page without the countdown, but it still shows up on the live site. It's just... stuck, or something.
4. Multiple queries from you guys about other projects I've worked on and other sites on the server, wondering if they may have been infected by the same bug. I've checked this one up, down and sideways, and I am pretty confident saying that I am not aware of any similar occurrences.

this problem with the website is tied to video game Halo 2, and if you watch the latest trailer for the game,(which can be found at sites like xbox.ign.com and www.fileplanet.com) it shows a link at the end of the trailer for www.xbox.com (the platform that halo is on) and for a split second the link changes to www.ilovebees.com .... so this is a conspiracy or something created by microsoft and bungie.

i have checked on some different sites and i have found out that this is indeed fake, all of it....many of the subliminal messages that are found on the www.ilovebees.com site (which can be clearly read if you click on view/source and scroll through the html code) are excerpts from Halo 2 and such. To those of you who have read the Halo novels, it fills you in on what happens between the end of Halo 1 and the beginning of Halo 2. I suggest you read them, you will be clued in on certain things.

While this is quite well put together, there's a decent amount of evidence that it's a most a puzzle or artwork, probably perpetrated by Bungie (who we all love anyway.) Visits from Durundal pretty much make that obvious. Moreso: ilovebees.com wasn't registered until June 14, 2004.
That being said, it's probably worthwhile to share what details and clues can be sifted from the site. Anyone who hasn't poked through it thoroughly is missing out: follow the site nav a few times and watch while the content changes.
My favorite piece of hidden text so far: "She cut her a new mouth and fed her."
Mixed in with the regular HTML have been MAYDAY messages from "The Operator," who complains of being numb but feeling her body manipulated around her. She worries that she's behind enemy lines and shouldn't shout for help, which implies that for one of a handful of reasons, she perceives a hijacked HTTP stream as a normal mode of communication.
Hrm. Future postings should include verbatim text from the transmissions.
Phasmids are insects that pretend to be leaves or sticks: protective camoflage.
There certainly are a lot of arthropod and sand references in the transmissions.

This is Master Chief reporting. I tried to kill the queen, but she was too fast, I got stung. We all know how I am alergic to bees, so I passed out. When I awoke I instantly began my next report. Pacman420, you are mistaken in your presupposition that August 24 is the release date for Halo 2. The release date for Halo 2 is November 9, officially announced by Bungie around the time of E3, if I recall correctly.
Regardless, August 24 expresses some other significance. Perhaps it may be a playable demo. Either way, it is a fine way to build up hype and keep Halo 2 and Bungie on the minds of those who look into this kind of stuff. Really fun stuff. Unfortunately, I had never heard of Bungie before Halo, so I never had the chance to experience in full splendor the Cortana letters, or any other publicity stunts Bungie may have pulled with their prior games.

I have done some studying on this,the 3 hours, 6 miles, and 1000 feet I have tryed to add up. A solid number I got was 2000, could this mean the year 2000? What happened that year? I'll do some more research...
The countdown has something to do with a video game for the XBOX called "Halo 2". Well, A friend and I have come up with a 343 Guilty Spark link. 343 (AI, or a system process) is part of this. if you look at some of the text it shows that there is a cmd proc running a scan like what he did in Halo.

i had a thought that maybe it was an advanced computer hacker/scripter was trying out new software that can script sites and post unusual messages, but this doesnt explain the fact that it was in the trailer to Halo 2 ( XBOX - MICROSOFT ) upcoming games title. So if anyone could find the website originally where the video of the halo 2 preview came from we could find the person involved who put the video on the internet and ask them about it.

Secondly, Halo 2 is not ready to be shipped, whether it's to China or here. They still have to do a lot of testing on the features they implemented for Xbox Live, not to mention various tweaking here and there, and, rumor has it that bots will be a new feature for those who can't play on Live, so they'll be busy tweaking that. Heck, want a better source? Read the weekly updates.
Bungie already made the mistake of pushing for Halo to be released with the Xbox. They won't do it twice. The only way the date is getting changed is if the game gets pushed back, which most likely won't happen.

Yup something releated to Halo 2 will be coming out on August 24th.
Heres a possible answer(but I belive it 2b highly unlikely)...Phase one was countdown to Meltdown Convention(this has already been proven). Phase two could(I'm not saying it is, this is speculation) be the annocement Halo 2 has gone gold, as well as the annocment that it will release on the 24th taking the gaming world by total surprise.
I don't believe what I said above will happen though, but its not totaly impossible now is it?

Nobody has mentioned the addresses listed on the links page of ilovebees.com. The 1st grouping all deal with floods and being waist deep in H20, the 2nd group are articles containing the phrase "enemy within" in their titles, and the 3rd are items dealing with having someone turning their back on you/having one's back against the wall. The exception is the last address of the 3rd grouping, which is an article about a spider attracting prey with her coloring.
Funny you would say it could mean having ones back against a wall. A couple months ago in an interview with OXM a guy at Bungie said that the story of Halo is basicly these characters with their backs up against the wall with not alot of options. Hmm...

In it, the will cover multiple games INCLUDING halo 2. Also, they plan to release a demo which they say will have one of the new games they talk about on it which everyone thinks is Halo 2. And they have wrapping paper on the cover that says do not open till August 24th, because they dont want to release the cover art. So, everyone including teamxbox.com are thinking the ilovebees.com mess up is just a thing to build up pressure for the Halo 2 demo. theres an explanation for ya.

Ok Caboose, heres a couple problems with that theory. 1.Bungie said no demo till after the full game is released(to avoid any surprises, etc.).
2.That issue may/may not include a demo(who knows?), but the thing is subscribers(like myself) will receive or issuse a few days before they hit shelves. Thereby ruinning the BIG surprise if it would happen to be a demo of Halo 2.
I know I have some other better clues as to what it will be, just can't remmember what they are right now.

In my opinion this is what's happening:
The owner of www.ilovebees.com was paid (either in money or the promise of extra traffic soon :) to allow this to be done to the site, the obvious reason is to generate more hype and draw interest to halo 2, the countdowns are obviously important events, I've preordered halo 2 and I'm entertaining the possiblity (admittedly slight one) that halo 2 will release at the end of the countdown. Most likely though it's just the time before the next part of this story continues, either way it's really interesting, going to be watching www.ilovebees.com very closely, bungie sure has my attention :)
i just am confusing. utterly confused. i have read every single post on this page i cant make any damn sense of it. look for some of this shit on the xbox forums. and the bungie forums. oh and this site is clearly not of a private origin. it was made by bungie as an elaborate scheme to tell the people about something. what, i dont know. Ok, heres some info for you all. I remember back in early June(I believe) I read one of Bungie's weekly updates. It mentioned they were working on a new trailer that would go out to theaters. They also said it would contain some pretty impressive stuff.
Well that trailer recently released, and there was pretty much nothing surprising(or new) in it...except the bees site link at the end(and the part with MC at the end). Now if you research the Ilovebees web site you will notice it has only been around since June 2004, the same time they mentioned working on the trailer that started this whole mess.
Whats this prove? Nothing, but it does show they've been planning this for a while now.

Being from australia, i reckon this event will hit here at a later time then you american guys,
but i think we can all by sure that this is not:
--a demo, as this will ruin the halo experience and provide an ubrupt stupid spoiler
--a book, or the like, as this has turned into too much of a fully fledged hype to be some so unimportant
--or an early release, which is extremelly unlikely as i, like many, have preordered and any early launch will compicate matters greatly.
i have absolutely no idea what is happening but i am enjoying every minute of it.
i can't wait to see what happens.
1.It can't be a demo simply because Bungie themselfs said no demo till after the game is released because it would ruin the "expierience".

Blakk_Hawk, Bungie used to have in their FAQ, that they would never release a demo. But that has since disappeared. So, I still believe it will be a demo disk in next months OXM.

Has anybody else read the Cortana message analysis. there is continued repitition of the numbers 3 and 7... if you notice at one point within this page it says "fail try fail try fail try fail" exactly as the "XOXOXOX" signed at the bottom of the second message.... Xs representing fail? hmmm.... also the seek the truth behold the truth reveal the truth it follows a 19 pattern then it has a space 1 phrase of each then it says "that is the law and the whole law" then it continues with the 19 pattern. 6 times it does this which is really confusing me due to the fact that the cortana messages went in groups of 3, 4, and 7... that was also in the messages also it says hemmorage in 11 days... 11 days is August tenth im curious as to what that means. My personal opinion.... this site was set up.. it was not hacked into there were no deals between this site and bungie... i think Bungie made the entire site.
