...my favorite game growing up was "the eavesdropping game." My mom taught it to me, and I think she made it up. It was a fortune telling game. We played it in elevators, on trains, or standing in line at the store — anywhere there were people to eavesdrop on.

OKay Melissa or our OPERATOR has one heck of a sense of humor. There seems to be two axons in KY (not the jelly). one is in Frankfort and the other is not in Louisville otr Lexington. No it is in Hazard KY . Yes that's right the home to BO and Luke Duke. Last time I was there they still did not have a stop light let alone a good computer connection. So I guess I will make the four trek from Louisville to Hazard this upcoming weekend to unlock the axon in SHOCK STICK. If anyone is anywhere around that area please say so and try to get this one. We only Have two in this round lets get them all.

I think we're all going to get burned out if this keeps going on. We should focus our efforts on doing only the bare minimum required (you know, like what we do the rest of our lives.) If we can communicate and make sure we're only picking up the three in each, we could save everyone a lot of wasted 4 hour trips to Hazard, KY. After all, we're just the good ol' boys, Never meanin' no harm, beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day we was born.

For anyone who has already connected an AXON what do they ask? I read someone mentioning something about a code word or something. Anyone know about that?
I havent checked them on a map but all of the axons for Exclusive License are extremely close together, like there all on the same street! If somebody is in that area, get the whole thing...run like the wind!

I was thinking, About the "Copied" AI theory and yeah its very solid and its not like its not happend before (IE:Fall of reach.)what if it neccesarily wasnt the crash that damaged the AI but maybe it was the AI who caused the crash. This AI could have (to save memory and tasking functions due to spreading herself to thin) made copies of specific subroutines, then these subroutines needed to due so as well. This could have caused a error in a system somewhere. Maybe the orginal source code had gotten deleted hence the "True" AI cant recal anything because technicaly it no longer exsists. all thats left is just duplicated subroutines.
Oh god, tell me that theres at least on in Canada or at least 1 near the border of Main and New Brunswick. Does anyone have a map?

I'm almost positive Dana has nothing to do with Melissa whatsoever. SHe might post at the same time every day, but that's no big deal; I usually get on the computer at roughly the same time each day. I call my girlfriend at almost exactly the same time each day, it just means she has a routine. Also, if Dana were an AI then this would pretty much be irrelevant. We have already worked out most of the situation on Dana's blog. If she were an AI, she would know the entire situation by now and would already have fixed it. It took her a while to realize the website was infected with an AI. Usually, and I could be wrong here, but usually, an AI will pick up the telltale signs of another AI right away. Dana being an AI would also leave the pictures to be explained. I'm sorry, there's just not enough evidence supporting the Dana = AI theory. Not unless Aunt M programmed her, and given Aunt M's reaction to "the medium will mestastize" I'm pretty sure she isn't a computer genius.
I can't check any axons, but I'll keep working on the "Melissa's split personalities" theory, and check the website. Keep up the good work!

Not sure if this has been mentioned but looking at the multipal personality theory and the possibility of SP being a part of the Operator... It seems to me that the SP has a better grasp of the voices and was even able to give us the pieces in the correct order, while the Operator could not make that connection. So perhaps the SP was the part of the AI that dealt with organization. This however would mean that the SP would need to work with the Flea (which in my opinion is the logic of the AI). These two parts are not working together thus the AI can not assess what is going on. Organization (SP) and Logic (Flea) combine to make it possible for the AI to access and repair itself. Logic without Organization does not work and vice versa. Perhaps we should recommend to the Operator that she combine the two pieces.... Just a thought.
Also notice on the Hives page that the Operator says "New voices are intercepted weekly." So I would gather that we can expect a new set of Axons each week. But is this contingent on us heating 3/3 axons for each point???
Just more to think about...
Another thing of note: If the Operator keeps posting Axons in same fashion (Starting in Fun stuff with Amazing Facts (week 1), Hive-Ku (week 2), The Famble of The Bee (Week 3), etc...) Then the the last set of Axons would be posted on November 2nd. 1 Week BEFORE HALO 2 is released.

it comes after she takes the lie detector...he mentions she will have to take the lie detector test and she starts to say but you just did that. as far as the gun and the ambulance we never heard if there was a shot after she jumped off the tower

Grifter, if we get a new set of hundreds of axons every week till nov 2 that would be way more than 777. I feel that would only work if it was expected that we only get say a certain percent of them. But the expectations seem to have risen to 3 per group from 2 so i doubt that whoever's in charge would set their expectations that low. I know we'll see more but perhaps some of the sets will be like the recipe set and be smaller. That's my guess.

I think its a great idea to send the compiled .wav files to the Sleeping Princess. Maybe she has some information on them that Melissa doesn't, or if they're one in the same, access to different files. Plus, she enjoys being asked questions anyway. I'd do it myself if I wasn't so unbelievably lazy.

If she asks you what her real name is, say "Melissa". Then, sometimes she'll ask you for the code word, or something, which is the name of the .wav that you are assigned to. I wasn't asked this question when I answered, so I think this only happens some of the time. Then you'll hear the .wav and the axon will go hot on the website. Its that easy.
ok, so this payphone is going to ring, right? ... near where i live. i know where it is... i have GPS coordinates. i know what time it will ring. that's on the site too. but what date? will it ring at that time every day until someone picks it up? if i pick it up... what do i say? what is an axon? us? them? the flood? i don't know. but i would like to.
Damn there's a lot of traffic on here regarding Georgia and Atlanta axons. Warms my heart (seeing as how I was born there).

The Dukes of Hazzard was set in Hazzard County, Georgia, not Hazard, Kentucky.
Hazzard County is fictional, to be sure, but I assure you this is the case. They used to refer to filing papers in Atlanta (to thwart Boss Hogg's plans, etc.) or getting some government official up from Atlanta (to thwart Boss Hoggs' plans, etc.).

I think "Red" finally connects the Date storyline to the Janissary one. It mentions the name Aiden in it, so it definately ties into the date story. Near the end of the clip the cop leaves to assist an officer under fire. My guess is that he is going to the call at the traffic stop where a gun was pulled on the "stupid cop". This is only a guess, but at least it would finally connect the date storyline in with the other two from the original set.

i like the new blue background on the site... but this game isnt going to be as much fun in 2 weeks if all we do is heat up axons...
Me and a friend of mine just lit up the Paramus, NJ axon, which was in the "on_time" group. We knew we were in the right place because the little girl from Blind Melon's "NO RAIN" video was dancing and frolicking around the phone....just kidding about the little girl part :)
Before we tell you what exactly happened we would like to express our disappointment...
1) the coordinates were in NJ...one of the most densely populated states in the US.
2) it was right outside of a mall (i.e., lots of people around)
3) there was a EBX store in the mall, so we're pretty sure that someone other than ourselves, in the immediate area, knew about the Paramus axon and the whole ILB ARG.
But...we were the only 2 people standing around the phone for an hour....LET'S GET IT TOGETHER PEOPLE!!!
Ok, enough complaining; besides, if there were other people there we wouldn't of had the opportunity to lite it up ourselves.
Here's a brief (or not so brief) explanation of what happened when we got there...
We scanned the entire area (inside and outside of the mall) for pay phones, because there weren't any exactly where the coordinates indicated. There were a few phone banks in the area, but we stationed ourselves at the most likely spot (within a couple hundred yards of the coordinates), because there were two phones there (we planned on asking others to man the other phone banks, but nobody ever showed up. WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE!).
So... we called the phones to make sure they both received calls, and, lo and behold, one didn't ring (crap). But the connection was made, because I answered the non-ringing phone when my friend called, and was able to talk to him (yeay).
When 6:19 EST rolled around, the phone with a working ringer was silent. So was the one with no ringer. But we picked up the receiver on the busted phone every five seconds or so, and finally heard Melissa.
She asked for her "real name" (we said "Melissa" three times and "the Operator" once, pausing between each, before we got the "friend" greeting). We heard the on_time wav, which had something to do with Jan talking to a cop, who said that JJ would get prosecuted for arson (we were both pretty psyched, so we don't remember the exact conversation, even though we listened twice each). The cop sounded like the guy who was giving Jan the PQI.
Sorry for the long post. Keep lighting up axons!
Hey, Out of three we got one connected...'raining_cops' Oakland Mall, Troy MI. Props to the small group we had there. I missed the first one because there was more than one phone, and I got the wrong one. I messed up the second because the voice activation to recognize me saying 'melissa' My Bad! I'll hit it again tomorrow.
GET this of all things the third one we hit was in a small restaraunt and there was a bee/wasp on the window near the pay phone of two that were in the restaurant NO LIE. I have witnesses. There were three of us there. What are the odds... ARE THERE BUNGIE CONTACTS SOMWHERE NEAR THESE AXONS... WHAT IS GOING ON?
AND did they get these gps coordinates for payphones? Do phone companies keep track of their phones via gps, otherwise someone would have had to travel to these phones to get these coordinates.

how ya doing all! Looks like I'm back and starting this up again. My first reaction to the new audio clips was somewhat disturbed. These are taking the story we pieced together last week in to a crazy new place. Jan being forced to murder someone? The dirty cop? So many unanswered questions so far, but for now lets get these axons hot tomorrow and put this new story together

Is anyone as confused as I am now as to how these stories are related to Halo 2 if at all...? These are becoming more weird even though they are starting to become more connected together.
This stuff seems so small scale that it doesn't have anything to do w/ Halo 2, Earth, the war w/ the convenant. Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense.... :-/

btw, I went back to the source (Halo: Combat Evolved) to see if it could provide any clues. In the manual, there is a summary of the events leading up to the game.
It mentions the annihalation of the Reach colony to the Covenant, and the fact that MC is the last remaining SPARTAN-II soldier.
Since a lot of folks here agree that time travel is somehow involved (the manual also mentions the development of faster-than-light travel, which would suggest travelling into the past - I think it's related to the theory of relativity), I was thinking about the storyline in that context.
If humanity is getting its collective arse handed to it in the future, why wouldn't they send people back to create an army of SPARTAN-II soldiers in their past, so that they can create enough to defeat the Covenant before they can even destroy one human colony.
Could it be that the AI with which we are dealing is actually from the future, and is here with the plans to begin a program to prepare humanity for our first encounter with the Covenant (and the Flood). Production of armies of SPARTAN-II Soldiers, stockpiles of powerful vehicles and weapons, and the like would begin now.
A Covenant spy AI may have hitched a ride back with humanity's AI, creating some of the current problems. Time travel may also play havoc with the AI's memory, etc.
It would also explain parts of the story that are being revealed in the wav files (though they take place in our future). Jan and her dad would obviously be part of the SPARTAN project, so they have a secret to keep. Listen to "Nervous," "Law Abiding," and "You Knew." They seem to be the wavs that hint at the secrecy of the new SPARTAN project on Earth.
JJ may commit arson, but he's doing it for a larger cause. The wav that me and my friend heard today (on_time) is probably a cop letting JJ off the hook, so he might have been let in on the plan, and knows how important it is to keep JJ and Jan out of the spotlight.
I haven't read the books, so I may be way off. Just thinking, though.
Interesting, but I really don't think it stands up. And I won't even start to comment on your relativity physics, which deals with lorentz contraction or "time compression" NOT time travel. Perceptions of time can be RELATIVELY different, it's a very different concept. But interesting thoughts.

As many already know, even after the success threshhold is reached (3 axons for the for the current group, 1 axon for the four on recipe3, and 2 axons in the original group) newly heated axon DO count towards our supposed goal of 777, so in short, the more axons out of each group we get hot, possibly the shorter this game will last...

According to HALO the game, and the book "The Flood" which is based on the game...John is the last of the Spartan II unit........however, in the book "The First Strike", after HALO, that is when he discovers Linda floating in space around halo in a cryogenic tube(you'll have to read the book to fully understand why she is just there in space) and later on he goes back to Reach where the rest of the Spartans were on their own mission and he discovers that Will, Kelly, and Fred had survived...so he rescues them and now there are 5 Spartans left from the Spartan II unit.............so all 5 should still be alive as we enter HALO 2, because they were still alive at the end of "the First Strike"..:)
