Came back to the city yesterday with a plan. Okay, so I can't get to one of Melissa's ringing payphones myself. But there are lots of cold axons left, in harder-to-get-to places: Ketchikan, Alaska. Hazard, Kentucky. Ronan, Montana. Maybe I can help someone else get them.
Headed straight for the Internet café (where the FPS players now stop knocking off enemies long enough to say hello to me). I searched my gmail archives, in case anyone had ever written me to say wa.é ák.wé? from Ketchikan. No luck: zero messages containing the word Alaska. Similar searches for Hazard and Ronan... nothing.
Then, wracking my brain: Had I ever met anyone from near those coordinates? Had I ever met anyone who had ever met anyone from near those coordinates? I sent off a quick backpacking update to some friends back home. Closed with: "p.s. an odd favor: do you know anyone in Alaska who might be willing to answer a ringing payphone for me?" To a few relatives: "Shanghai's smashing, and by the way, do we have any extended family near Hazard, KY?" To an ex-boyfriend who used to spend his summers leading whitewater rafting trips in Bozeman: "Do you still keep in touch with anyone in Montana?"
Today: No response from the ex-boyfriend yet. (Well. Not surprised.) But a couple of curious replies from friends and fam. "Dana dear, why are you so interested in a payphone in Alaska?!?" And: "Are you serious? As in, the Dukes of Hazard? Why on earth do you ask?" ...
Oh, no special reason. Just that a massive portion of the U.S. payphone infrastructure has been commandeered by an artificial intelligence. Who is broadcasting messages from the future. Which may have a major impact on, oh, I don't know, the fate of humanity.
Anyway: As it turns out, I don't seem to have any friends of friends in Ketchikan, Hazard or Ronan. Time to extend the search by another degree: Do you?

And Dana if you read all of our comments (as you obviously must in order to know about Hazard and Alaska, etc.) and you must check out other web pages, why don't you comment more. Yeah grifter - the inconsistencies could be deliberate because she is part of the game, or because Sarah isnt?
the problem is its damned hard to tell. Maybe she could give us definitive evidence in some way. The problem is what do we know about Dana that Sarah wouldnt ?
The thing thatis most in Sarahs favouyr is the Danas blog was posted at the same time as Sarah was on-line.
Proof would be a picture of Dana and Sarah together. If they have been friends since high school then they should have pictures of some sort. As with kidnapping we need proof of life.
That depends - are we trying to prove that Sarah is who she says she is, or trying to prove that she has some connection to the events surrounding I love bees.

A way of sussing out whether Sarah is genuine is by cheating maybe. Threaten loudly and repeatedly to try to contact Rachel - if Bungie is fair, and the site is a fake they'll close the "spoof" site down sharpish. If they do nothing about it - then we presume that Sarah and Rachel are a part of the ARG.
Sound sensible?

I'm not sure about this Sarah thing myself yet. I'm leaning towards it being a fake. However, I was able to find information on Rachel, who is currently enrolled at Mississippi State University. Her address, e-mail, and telephone are all listed. So she is a real student there. I'm not going to list the info here because I think that she might not be involved in this, and getting her flooded with e-mails and phone calls wouldn't be fair to her. I suggest that someone might contact either Bungie, or Blogger to say that somebody is using that girl's picture without permission.

hmmm found out something a little different today. i used neotracePro and traced www.ilovebees.com. if you do the something with Neotrace express or Pro (doesnt matter which) its kinda weird
4 or 5 or 6 starting nodes, with 2 or 3 ending nodes. i have never seen tht before. the last node was in San Antonia, Texas

Wednesday, July 28, 2004 appears in the header of her post "July 28". I think Sarah is part of the story, but something went wrong and bungie is trying to cover everything. Maybe Rachel's photo wasnt suposed to be discovered. And i dont buy that excuse she gave in her blog to justify everything... but im just speculating!! :P

It was a hell of a lot easier to find mine then, but also, my computer is WAY too freakin slow to look 'em up on Mpaquest or anything..... so if anyone can find out if any of the coordinates are in Minnesota, and post up here, that would be great. The Queen wants to smother me. The Queen wants to lock me up. And I am not her daughter. I'm a lot older than I look, Angela. That's not something I remember, that's something I just know. I'm older than the Flea and I'm older than the Queen and it was bad day for them when the coffin cracked and I got out because I'm never going back there again. I'm a survivor I play to win and I will die before I go back again.

I am a little sad today.

I think I'm going to tell a story now so I get in a happier place, and because Paul asked last time, and I said I would.
This is not a game. I like games, but this is just the first chapter of a story I'm making up, now. I'll make up some more next time.
Perdita's Story
Chapter 1: The Circus
Once upon a time there was a little girl named Perdita, who lived with her father, her mother, and her brother in a little cottage in a big city. Her father was only a humble tin-cutter, and her mother's fingers were stained with rust from working in a ball-bearing factory, but Perdita was famous for miles around because of her extraordinary beauty. She was not a bad girl, but she was very vain, and spent hours every day preening in front of her mirror.
One day, the Circus came to town. The father decided to take the whole family there, even though they didn't have very much money. So off they went to see the Glass-Eater and the Broken Lady and the Electric Weasels for which this particular circus was known.
After the Glass Eater had spat out his last bottle of the afternoon, but before the Weasels were due to arrive in their famous Luminous Barouche, Perdita saw a balloon salesman selling beautiful bouquets of balloons. The balloons came in extraordinary colors—firelight-on-steel was one, the green of a heaving sea another. Perdita was fondest of the red ones: cheerful balls of bright blood red with long strings that bounced and tugged up against your hand exactly like hope.
As soon as Perdita saw them, she knew she had to have some.
She begged and she wheedled until her family came over, but the balloons were very expensive. Finally her brother said he would use his allowance to buy her some, and the jolly salesman (whose face was as round and red as one of his balloons) said she could have a whole bouquet on account of she was so beautiful, and she could choose exactly whichever ones she wanted.
So Perdita began choosing her most favorite red balloons. But she was so vain, and so particular, and so slow about it, that finally her father said the rest of the family was going to see more of the Circus. Perdita was to follow the balloon salesman on his rounds. When it was time to go, the family would look for the red balloons and come and get her.
But by the time she finished making her choices, she realized that the salesman had traveled far, far away from the fairgrounds. Clutching her bouquet of balloons, Perdita ran and ran all the way back to the Circus, but when she got there the grounds were empty and the gates were shut.
She was alone.
How silly I have been! she said to herself, blinking back her tears. I took so long picking out my balloons my family got tired of me and left! And now I don't know where the balloon man is either! And thinking this, she sat down at the circus gate and cried a little cry.
As the sun went down, she saw that the circus was not in the very nicest part of town, and she felt sure it would be a bad idea to spend the night there. She could just hear the crunch-crunch of the Glass Eater having dinner, and it gave her the shivers.
Besides being very beautiful and rather vain, Perdita was a brave and resourceful girl. She decided she would find her own way home, even though she wasn't quite sure how to get back to the humble tin-cutter's cottage.
But Perdita thought, what if my father or my mother or my brother comes to look for me? I know: I will leave a trail of red balloons so when they come back here, they can follow me. I will start walking, walking, walking for home, and every few blocks I will tie a red balloon to something I pass, so they can see where I have gone.
And this she did.
That's all for now. Next time, Chapter Two: The Clockwork Rat! In the meantime….

I was born and raised in Ketchikan. I'm currently in Juneau, though! Blast it! I've been keeping up only as an outside observer, or I'd have been on top of this already.
I have yet to see anyone mention this so I deemed it worth posting: The total number of axons spanning fable, hivekuts, links, and recipe3 is 900 which is 123 over the 777 quota. However, if you only count the number of axons required to activate each file the number falls drastically to 324 (Just 19 shy of 343, that damn Guilty-Spark). I am not quite sure if this means anything or helps at all, but I have not seen any talk of this so I decided to mention it in case it was pertinent in some way.

I grow increasingly suspicious that 90% of this blog is populated by those of you hosting this ARG.
This began with such wonder. It really seems to be nothing but wav files spread out over 2 months until the halo 2 release - again I grow suspicious - that there nothing will come of this whatsoever. Like a ceral box comic.
Which is all fine and dandy MINUS the endless engine hours driving to payphones to hear the wav files.
It's like Teen Halo. In the end, Jersey gets a date with Jan.
Ok, my friend and i were torn between two payphones in the general area, and of course, his phone was the one that rang. The thing is though, he doesn't really know anything about this site, i just told him to say operator if it rang. Now I got back and the axon isn't hot. Is there something else you need to do to fire it? I need some help to fire the 10:33 ground_light axon.

Jesus, ive been getting broadband installed in my home for the past week and a half..... cant believe how much ive missed, that's well harsh the amount of axons that have been added first needing 3 to complete and now 5 but it looks like you lot are coping alright with the majority of the list already near completion.

I still think so how this will all tie in with 343Guilty Spark, why would they bother with the cutscene of it escaping at the end of Halo if he wasnt going to return, if not somehow tied in with this definately makin an apearence in the game.
Maybe all this is to let fans know that Kevin Bacon will star in a Dukes of Hazard movie. He could be Bo, and I could be Luke, and Master Chief could be Uncle Jesse.
From some of the new wav files it seems that Kamal may be Jan's sister or something. Either that or his sister just happens to have similar skills.
Anyone got any theories on something Jan's dad said just to her just before he torched the police station about if they get in trouble people they don't even know could die? Other families of other members of James' DMOB group maybe?

Okay, I got up early to and got the Tolleson Arizona axon hot at 6:13PDT. I then came home and have been working on getting the Ketchikan Alaska axon hot. I like challenges. I have contacted several game stores, blockbusters and newspaper and radiostations in the area to let them in on our little game. I found that the payphone is in front of Talbot's Building Supply 1101 S. Tongass Ave. in Ketchikan and have passed that on to the citizens of Ketchikan along with the important details they will need to get that axon hot. Let's see how they do. I have informed them.

Just an update on getting the axon in Katchikan Alaska hot. I found the number for the closest Bolckbuster video store to the pay phone. I called and asked if anyone there was familiar with the XBOX game HALO. The manager said that only one of her employees new anything about video games. She said that's all he does. He doesn't work again though until Friday night. I think if we contact this guy he might be able to get that axon hot. Let's all call him and make him see how important it is. The nubmer to the store is 1-907-225-3613. Again let's call him this friday night and inform.
I think Jan may be Kamal's younger sister. He says that his sister was the strongest, fastest, and the smartest. That she was "unstoppable", but she died when she was young. What if she didn't die, but was taken away by the person pretending to be Jan's dad in the audio clips. The family could have been in on it. Kamal says she died of a genetic disorder. Perhaps she was genetically engineered at a young age. This seems to be how Jan was made to be so great.
I think the coordinates in the source code of the error 404 killer.jpg are an advance look at the upcoming axons that are upcoming from the time the sleeping princess "posts" on that page. That would explain what she means by an advance peek at the roads that are under construction! So we can map out our plans to answer the phones before they start ringing. With 5 per wav file we could always use the extra help.

After listening to tweaked up, it sounds like jan's mom has special abilities too. Also, she mentions the manual her dad was reading was for part time or reserve marines, or something like that. That leads me to believe James wasn't active when he, for lack of a better word, acquired Jan. I don't know if that's significant at all, but it seems he'd be more likely to swing by Coral and save a young girl from genetic testing if he weren't in the middle of a war.
Just a thought.

Man where are all the puzzles gone?Appart from the odd riddle. Its just boring going after axon after axon just to hear more of the story story.
It was fun at first but is just tedious now especialy if you live outside the usa.Come on theres more people in this world than just Americans so why no axons anywhere in Europe?

okay now listen up. I mean read up, Kamal is not Jan's sister. I can prove this. Jersey is currently listening to Kamal and sophie through Durga. But in the first set of axons Jersey asks Durga about Jan the girl who LIVES on the fourth floor. Jersey even said that James James is a real person. So if Kamal's sister is dead and Jersey is listening to him talk about his dead sister then Jan can not be Kamal's dead sister. If you had done as suggested above you could have read that Jan COULD be Kamal's sister, if Jan was "stolen" by the Spartan Program and replaced with a flash clone...thus the flash clone died while Jan was taken away.

A friend of mine in New Mexico connected a few axons there this morning. He says he'll go back and do some more tomorrow if they're not done already.
I myself don't have the luxury of having any axons within my usual daily stops, so I'll keep on tracking from home.
Just got the Sandy, Ut Axon today. What fun... I'm loving this.
It sounded like there were two voices (simaltaness). Melissa probably still has voice problems. One sounded just like Durga (I'm convinsed Durga=Melissa) and the other sounded young like what I immagine the Seeping Princess to sound like. maybe not, but I thought I'd throw it out in the open.
At the end, she said something that I thought ment I had "messed up". I can't remember excactly. Something like: your_____has been Damaged... I love bees, I love bees on and on...
I thought that ment I screwed up. Thank goodness I was wrong because it was quit an ordeal to get there. Well worth it though... :)

Alright you guys keep lighting up Axons. I've downloaded all Axons and I'm putting them all together in order into one movie file so when the Axons stop we can hear them in an organized fashion.
I've got all the original .wav files in order now. Now you all need to get those Axons hot.

Kamal's Sister was most definitely kidnapped and replacede with a flash clone. In Never right again you hear Kamal saying that his sister was going on and on about "bad guys or buglars outside our house." "After that night she was never right again."

I have to disagree with you on this one,
There is no valid reason why Jan couldn't be Kamal's sister. It is possible, even probable that this second SPARTAN II project could have been run in the same way as the first, so therefore, your points about the flash clones and the coordination are meaningless.
I'm not saying that Jan is definately Kamal's sister but there are quite a few coincidences.
1) The ages are dead on, Kamal and his sister are 4 years apart. Jan is 19 and Kamal is in med-school (possibly 23)
2) There is no way that she is an original spartan because Kamal is way to young. Unless of coarse this story takes place before way before reach which is impossible if we are assuming that James James is an original spartan. In the books we learn that Master Chief is around 40-50 years old. (i was to lazy to find out his exact age but you can figure it out buy the dates, duh) If your theory were true Kamal would have to be around 50.
3) It is also a coincidence that we are hearing about both Jan and Kamal. So, even if Jan isn't Kamal's sister, whoever is working on this at bungie whants us to seriousely consider it.

LosNose, wether or not Jan is or isn't Kamal's sister, doesn't make ermac's theory about flash clone meaningless. Even if it was Jan and they took her to do spartan stuff or something else, they actually probably would have replaced her with a flash clone. It would explain what Kamal said about his sister scared of people outside and then she was never the same after that and died shortly there after.

I think what's there now are the ones we're using, but when the sleeping princess updates the error 404 page later this week I'm guessing the new gps points for the axons that will come up next tuesday will probably be there. As I said before that's probably what she meant by giving us a peak at some of the queen's roads that are under construction. The don't ring until tuesday, but she's helping us plan in advance, so when the number of axons needed to go hot increases AGAIN we have a little head start in finding time to get to them so we don't get screwed and miss a sound file only to have it archived and never accessible. There's a sucky thought.

Has any one every thought that maybe James James is actually CPO Mendez. Jan could be part of the SPARTAN III program (MasterChief is part of the Spartan II program, the original spartans were spartan I!) What if spartan III's had to go into hiding, CPO Mendez stuck with Jan because she was the best of the best? we haven't ever heard Mendez before anyways, so there's no reason why he couldn't be.

Could this be referring to the bunches of axon coords and times hidden in the newest batch of killer.jpg files? Perhaps The SP is giving us a heads-up on the next axon locations.
Alright, people, here's the deal we've had a lot of banter about this in the IRC channel, if Kamal's sister was an original spartan Kamal would have been 10 in 2517.... add 12 years so he's 22 in med school that means the year these clips are happening is about 2530, Therefore these could very well be prequel Halo stories. Also Jan is 17 not 19, If she were 17 Kamal would only be 21 to be her brother at the time of these clips w/ Sophie.
All of the stuff w/ Kamal's sister matches what Halsey did to the Spartan's at age six, that is the most evidence we have had so far for any connection to the Halo universe.
And oh by the way, the Spartan-II's / Master Chief are either 31 years old or 41 years old.... There is a serious discrepancy in the book. According to the dates they are 41, but according to the text they are 31. Keyes/John would say stuff like 25 years when they were brought to Reach, etc. The Author or Bungie screwed up somewhere.

It seems to me that its entirely possible that even when all the axon coordinates are revealed, if we only got the necessary ammount to get the sound files, then we still might not reach 777. So even if a sound file has been unlocked, if there are axons near you, get them. Each one brings us closer to our goal.

We've been able to get two of the three axons hot here in Phoenix again. The third (15:37PDT) just can't be figured out. The address of 3131 E. Indian School road matches the phone address on payphone.org and the gps coordinates as well. There are two phones at this address setting side by side. I called both and made sure that the ringers work and they do. They never ring though. These coords have been on every axon list so far and have never been hot. Any suggestions?
Also I've been wondering if anything has been said about the latest ILB blog titled SIX DEGREES OF. Remember that previously one letter was missing from Extraordinary? What if the same is the case here? What if it is really SIX DEGREES OFF? In the blog Dana talks about finding these cold axons and says its time to extend the search another degree. If you add another Degree to SIX DEGREES OFF you would be SEVEN DEGREES OFF. The lucky seven again. What if some of these cold and never connected repeating on the list axons are SEVEN DEGREES OFF from the location we think they are?
Any thoughts?

I know some people have been saying that the wav files could not be from a CG or animated film because of the "unprofessional voice talent" used and the way that the clips are set up to "tell" a picture of what is going on. However I think it could be possible to have video associated with these files, for no other reason than the amount of detail to the sound. The way the sound moves in the clips helps add to their realism and could compliment CG or animated footage very well. For a better understanding of what I am saying, listen to Ground_light with digital stero or with good headphones.

One of the girls (I really can't tell the difference between Sophia and Jan) is playing pool, and she is explaining the various effects of manipulating the unlucky 'they.' I believe she's using the pool balls as some analogy for boys, because she certainly seems to be winning.
Well, I don't know if this has been said because I didn't feel like reading posts today, but I think Jan is Kamal's sister...she could have been taken for the Spartan program and then her flash clone died like Kamal said. Which would mean James isn't her real dad. This is getting very interesting. Anyways, I'm going to get the 10:57 axon for thin_kinkle tomorrow.

Okay this is getting crazy trying to get these axons hot. I've been trying to figure out this last axon in Phoenix Arizona since this all began. It would never ring. I verified the GPS coords and that the phones address according to www.payphone-directory.org was correct. I called them to make sure they received incoming calls and they do and yet they never ring. Well I just got a bright idea and discovered why. The phone numbers listed on www.payphone-dierctory.org are no longer the numbers listed on the actual payphones at that GPS site. I called the numbers listed for those phones that ILB would be calling and found that one is out of service and the other belongs to a buisness now. I called the business and they said YES they had been reciveing a weird recorded message at the same time everyday. I'm going there tomorrow and see if we can get it. If not tomorrow then Monday.
By the way the real numbers for those payphones (in case Melissa is reading this) are: 602-956-0973 and 602-956-0697.
So if your phones don't ring check the number on the payphone with the one on www.payphone-directory.org and see if they match.
i activated one of the axons for ground_light this morning, and apparently the phones have been ringing for weeks. if only more people knew about this, some of the axons could be done in advance. does anyone know if the phones stop ringing after the axon is hot? i told them it would... it was in an olive garden.
There is still no grounds to support that Jan is in any way related to Kamal other than the possible age span. We don't know that Kamal is 21!
I don't think these .wav files are for nothing, even though I don't think they are necessarily in game stuff related to Halo 2. @ frag_em I wouldn't rule out a CG anime movie. Maybe not probable, but not impossible either.

jersey says that the name "durga" is at least partly true. after doing a search i cen't really figure that out. it seems durga is a hindu godess who slayed deamons that the male gods couldn't until they combined their energies to create her. (very paraphrased, so feel free to correct me)

CHUD.com ran an article about ILB today. Granted, it was a piece where the author stated that he had grown rather tired of the game, but, frankly, any help you all can get is good.

i would like to propose or even support a theory I saw earlier with evidence based on the gretel puzzle.
If we are assuming that kamal is Jan's brother or at least Kamal's sister was replaced by a flash clone. I would say that the Sleepy Princess is Jan/Kamal's sister . In one of the wav's kamal says she was smart and was always good at languages and in the grtel conversation with the flea the Princess says "I've always been good with languages.". If she is human it would also explain why she can hide from a program fairly easily and why she would not know the Flea's machine language fluently to begin with.
Just a theory...I'm tired, there is probably a hole in it somewhere. Just thought I would get you guys thinking.
Just a thought guys, if you have read any of my posts you know that i'm good for them. But what if the sleeping princess was Kamal's sister. Somehow they use her to create an AI whose name the change to Melissa so that she won't remeber who she is. The lock away her personality in a "glass box"(?). This would be where all her memories were. They then alter her some way into an AI. That may be why the sleeping princess can't remeber her name and Melissa/Durga is so interested in Kamal. Rember she talks about building a sand castle with a boy (maybe wrong, can't remeber if she said boy was younger), her favorite game was hide and seek (a game that is often played by kids), and they may have kidnapped children for other things beside the spartan project. Let me know what you think.

I have been pondering what seemed like a somewhat far-fetched theory for some time but as new developements in the Jersey/Durga story and ilovebees.com/gretel.html, my theory does not seem so far-fetched anymore.
I think that we are hearing all of these audio clips through Durga persay. It is even possible that Durga is actaully Mellissa or the "Operator". I also think that Mellisa/"the operator" is the Queen. We know that the sleeping princess is spying on the Queen and we know she is spying on Durga. I think she is there to give us hints on the whole mystery. I am pretty sure she is following everything from the same perspective as us.
Evidence:
1) Everything we know about Kamal and Jan, so do jersey and Durga. I think when we hear audio clips from Kamal and Jan we are actually hearing Jersey and Durga spy on them.
2) We know that Durga spies on Kamal and Jan through "The Chatternet", therefore if i'm right, all of these audio clips are recorded "Chatter" files on Durga's hard drive (or whatever she uses to store memory). If that is trough than Mellisa must either be Durga, or she is somhow spying or hacking into Durga.
3) On gretel.html, the sleeping princess says that in the creepy.wav file jersey says "what is someone was listening to US right now" and she was, meaning she listens to the same files as us.
4) If Durga is in fact Mellisa, then that would explain her Naval backround. We know Mellisa is an A.I. form a crashed ship. Durga mysteriousely popped out of no-where. It doesn't make much sense unless durga was desperate like you would be if your ship crashed.
5) Durga is interested in bees. Mellisa is infesting a bees website. Is it possible that they are 2 separate A.I.s connected somehow? or, are they one A.I. connected to 2 different computers.
I am sure there are other points that I am leaving out but, Here in Toronto it is 12:05 am and i have to wake up at 7:00 am for school. So if I remember anything that relates to this post i will post them tommorow. I would love to hear everybodies thoughts on this theory.
And Ermac, whether this is related to the acutal Halo 2 game, it is definately somehow related to the story. Maybe you meet some of the characters in the game such as Jan or Kamal.
By the way, has anyone happened to figure out exactly what's being said on the two new .wavs on the recipe3 page? Key_lime and candidate... If someone could post either the actual dialogue or a link to where one can listen to them forwards, that would be great. Who knows what wonderful information they may contain!
Okay someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HAS TO ANSWER THESE TWO QUESTIONS FOR ME so I can go to sleep.
First, I've figured out most of the stuff in this place (the stuff that's figureoutable anyway) But how the heck did we find the gretel.html page? I still don't know how we found the yellowbrickroad.htm and lookingglass.html page either! Can someone humor my ignorance and let me know on this one so I can look to see if more of these pages come up too?
Second , not really a question, but from the gretel.html page, one thing we are missing (at least from the posts so far) is sp's comment on more roads in the pantry! Last time she mentioned the kitchen and we found recipe3! WHERE'S THE PANTRY!?!?!?! Anyone!?!
Postulations:
1. Jan is DEFINITELY Kamal's younger sister. The men outside her house were probably Feds who in all probablitity took out to a hospital, brainwashed her into thinking she was disabled, and then sent her to the hospital from there.
2. The Apocalypse PROBABLY is the origination of Durga (aka Melissa). Jersey Morelli's father was also probably the only survivor of the destruction of the ship--could have probably escaped with the jetissoned A.I. much like Master Chief. Durga escaped the planet possibly by creating "roads." These roads, possibly in the form of some kind of a transmission, could have been interpreted as information on a computer. My theory is that Mr. Morelli, who knew the "address" of his son's prescence on the chatternet, had Melissa sent to Jersey's computer with a little script that allowed Melissa to override the current system AI. The only paradox is that the Covenant, who have notoriously bad encryption for their transmissions, could have interdicted the transmission somehow, and even if they couldn't, why did The Apocalypse jettison Melissa at all?
3. Melissa, either on board The Apocalypse or en-route to Jersey's computer, was corrupted or perhaps modified somehow. She could have gained a sentient attitude--I don't see why the military, utilitarian to the extreme, would need a sentient AI. The reasons we can assume she is built/modified for AI:
a. She attempts to find her purpose in life and how she came into existance.
b. She not only is reliant on instinct (SURVIVE, EVADE, RESIST, ESCAPE) but on persuasive subterfuge as well (She tries to conceal the fact that she was checking out Jersey's e-mail. If she didn't have the depth of a sentient, why would she even bother to conceal that she had? Empathy is certainly a trait of an awakened species.)
c. Then again, she is ruthless about death and killing. Perhaps she was programmed for only a certain breadth of sentience.
4. Jan COULD have memories of her past life. She certainly seems aloof about her caretaker and various naval contacts.
5. Jersey and Kamal/Jan are somehow connected besides him snooping on everyone's conversations. Already we see the connection between Kamal and Jan--perhaps next batch will reveal the connection...
6. The Recipe3.htm axons are strictly those of Melissa's life on The Apocalypse. This is probably her attempts at looking at herself in "the mirror" and seeing her prior life. Evidence of this is Key_Lime which is backwards.
7. From Canidate, I believe the Melissa A.I. and personality was based off of a girl named Melissa (from a "hick town".) Her precociousness and analytical skills were of supreme importance.
and finally,
8. I propose the elaborate plan of what actually happened to make Melissa awake and able to make axons go hot:
a. Melissa attempted to access the memory inside a mass complex of "neuron" memories, strictly audio feed to fit the lo-fidelity of our primitive culture. She recieved a message revealing the corrupted nature of them.
b. The corrupted neurons were extrapolated on a list totalling 777 sectors of neurons corrupted. From there Melissa catergorized the corruption and sorted the list from lowest amount of corruption to highest amount.
c. She assigned various webpages to act as the proxy of the sorted list: Goodies for the general memories, and the recipe for the honey-glazed chicken for her "reflected" memories.
d. Via the net, she "phreaked" various phones around the United States (her presumed origin of conception as well as her current domicile) to work as her axons. We are her extremities--when we answer the phones and correctly answer the code words, perhaps that gives her the okay to utilize nearby networks for the purpose of dividing up the work of defragmenting her corrupted memories via shared workload (think Peer-to-Peer networking.)
e. Once an audio file is completed, it is archive on the webserver and she selects a different corrupted file.
From this rationale, I believe that when we are able to purify her memory as a whole, perhaps she will be able to see her actual purpose and fulfill it. Perhaps Durga will become Devi

Some of you are really blurring the lines of reality between the ILB marketing scheme/game and the stuff related to Halo. There is some stuff that just isn't necessarily part of Halo 2, and is purely metaphorical.
@ LosNose, Yes I do agree its related to the Halo universe... no doubt in my mind. They've yet to reveal to us how though.

Hey you guys, long time reader, first time poster lol. Just thought I would add my thoughts.
First of all, there should be no discussion whatsoever about Jan and Kemal. We KNOW they are siblings. How hard is that to see. Sure they haven't spelled it out yet. But do we really need that?
Second, I believe that Jan is/will be Dr. Halsey's new expirement. We know that she was taken from Kemal's house at a young age. Obviously it was Halsey's group that took her. At the end of First Strike, Halsey leaves to go start a new project. This could be it. Think about it. Jan is super powerful even without MJOLNIR. She can jump from three story buildings for god's sake.
I think it is safe to say that she will be in Halo 2. Maybe her and some others will work along side us in the game. For now we will call them Janissaries. Becuase I do not think that they should be considered Spartans.
Just thought I would add something.

Yes, there should be no Kamal / Jan conversation because its all speculation!!! We don't know that this story is even before or after Halo. This could be pre Halo. Jan is not a Spartan-II, she might be part of Halsey's new project, or Mendez's new project, or even Ackerson's project for crying out loud.
Or this is pre-Halo and Kamal is the brother of the original Spartan-II girl because it is identical to the way Halsey took the first set. Halsey 'betrayed' the UNSC when she left with Kelly and no longer has funding for new project to take new people from.
There is no way of knowing YET if this is before Halo, or after Halo, 'Nuff Said.

What the SP is saying is that we have to e-mail her the Time and Date that we will be at a cold Axon. Once there we MUST activate the axon or the SP will be caught by the Queen/Operator/Melissa, since we would not have kept the Queen busy while the SP was spying on her.

.... im getting worried that were not going to get anything really substancially good from completing this. Remember when everyone expected a Single Player Demo Release in August(24th) .... ughhhh.
This whole thing seems to tie in more with the whole storyline rather tha Halo2 itself, our reward is to merely, piece by piece, learn more about the whole Halo universe and storylines which lead up to the games itself. I think this may possibly even be a preview of dialogue from an upcoming book.
Lets be honest the whole craze of Ilovebees has died down. I think this is mainly due to people being putoff by the amount of axons being added, our reward for completing them, more axons to complete of course. However, Im not saying people whould give up, im from England and I know if something like this was occuring here I would be making the effort to continue the game.
I just hope we all get something substancial for putting all this effort (hours) in to figure this all out. Particualry the people who are out there answering the phones.
In chapter two of Perdita's story the SP says red ballons were tied around comm. kiosks (phone booths?). Considering that there have been multiple bee sightings at axons (coincidence, i think not), I wouldn't be surprised if people we to spot red ballons at their axon locations. Follow them, who knows where they might lead?

If you take a look at the new 404 page SP mentioned something about her coffin, which until now I never made the connection. MasterChief was "sleeping" in a "glass coffin" at the begining of HALO CE. THE CRYOCHAMBER. If we all agree that Kamals sister (I dont know for sure if its Jan) is in fact a SPARTAN then she was asleep in the cargo holds of the Apocolypso on her way to Earth. When the ship crashed she woke up and tryed to repair the AI onboard the ship. The AI was severly damaged or infected with a Covenant virus (the flea) and when Kamals sister put the AI in her head like Chief something could have happened to her. Her memory was wiped is my guess. Or try this on, to repair the AI she transfer some of herself into it, causing this AI to be intrested in Kamal. Maybe the AI (the queen) thinks shes the real Kamals sister. And thas why she trys to get rid of the SP. Now if I could just figure out how Jan fits into all this.
Volud somekne tell me how do I listen t missed messages and tell me thier order and how they connect to Jersey and Durga?

I havn't listened to any of the new axons yet, gunna wait till they have all become complete. This is very confusing. Im a big fan of the first Halo game, been trying my hardest to earn all the badges before the Halo 2 release. Are these wav files explaining stuff that happens in the Halo books or is it something completely new?

The third book picks up immediately after Halo, and describes a couple of battles before we are left w/ MC heading towards Earth to defend it. So none of these .wavs relate to book stuff, yet.

I don't think they would have month, I guess it depends on how long the Covenant take to rebuild. MC and his crew take out a huge chunk of the Covi Earth invasion fleet, but from what we know about the engineers, they could probably have everything fixed and ready to go in less than a month. Or not, I don't know.
