I can't see the rogue process, she explained. So I need you to be my eyes for me.
She gave me these orders: Check the server log for modifications and unusual activity. Put up tags on the site so I know exactly where the process is working.
So I spent the day tagging the site with new text. Pulling random phrases out of a book, my favorite book actually, because using familiar words made it seem less scary, and guys, I was actually a little nervous. Okay, a lot nervous.
I tried not to be nervous. I watched the server. I posted Sterne's phrases when I saw the rogue process, and I posted the time it was there so the Operator would know.
After 8 hours, the Operator told me I had fulfilled my mission. Nothing dramatic happened. But I guess I did my job.
A lot of you told me that I was wrong to even think about cooperating with Melissa. Some of you told me to wait just a little longer, until we had a better plan.
But many more of you said: Dana, do whatever you have to.
And so I did.

It's odd.. I thought tracking down the Sleeping Princess was a bad idea, but appearantly the Princess did not think so.
She updated on Contact Me. Twice. The first message is gone, and I can't find it, and the second is brief:

the first explained that she learnd of the Queen's plan to send her back, back to her brother, on Sunday. Not back to the glass coffin, not back to another time, but back to her brother.
I wonder: could Melissa have really come up with a plan that did not entail the Princess' demise, an plan that is benificial to both; or is she tricking the Princess, and the Princess has no idea what will come?

dana. i was talking to the sp at the moment she was destroyed. way to go. destroy a young, bright, exciting, joyfilled entity. she was as alive as you or I. I dont pretend to know exactly who or what she was. But I do know that she never threatened or harmed any of us. unlike Melissa who threatened you many times. so, way to go. i hope you are happy with your choice.

Thats how I feel now. Sure, we helped you do it... but I never thought this would be the right way.
I never thought that this story could be so depressing. Did we have a choice in the first place? Would you have figured it out on your own? I guess we'll never know.
Maybe it was fate, and this was supposed to happen. But I never thought it would turn out like this.
I helped with getting rid of SP, and hearing her cry on the 404... well, thats just terrible.

Well, it's done. I can't say i agree with that desision, but i guess i understand to some point. It all seems to have ended pretty anti-dramaticly. The saga of the sleeping princess is over, but what of melissa? She still exists and still has a lot of power. Maybe we'll see in the future. As for me, i don't know have the slightest clue as to what to expect next.
What is Dana's favorite book? She mentions "Sterne's phrases", is this in reference to a Laurence Sterne 1713-1768?

another thing...i posted this on the last blog and it was the last comment before this new one...so people probably didnt read it but here it is....( prolly wrong but i find it cool)
well...i still have a little bit more to read on the blog, but i just gotta give props to kevjuice for the link to a decent quality movie of the trailer we all saw a few weeks ago...and one thing caught my eye when i was watching the trailer...if you look at the video when the profet was talking about how "they said this day would never come"...right after you see the MC jump out of the ship like in the 1st halo2 trailer...it shows a really quick clip of what looks like to me a white haired brute with some blunt object, slamming in promptly into some brown thing's head... I dont really know what it means, and it really has nothing to do with the matter at hand, but i thought it was interesting...(could it be like the king brute, giving it old skool to a profet w/o its crown on?)...i dont know...but it almost looks like 2 species ive never seen in the halo world...also the voice in the very beginning doesnt sound like cortana to me...almost like...dun dun dunnn....Melissa!

The coordinates are for NYC, Chicago, Austin, and San Fierro, er, San Fransisco i mean. Either way, i'd be willing to bet Pollock Hills (or whatever you said, i can't remember) is closer to one of these than Kansas City.

As much as I'd like to be at the Combat Training Exercise, the closest place to where I live is 9 hours 25 minutes away (37.784568 -122.404169 is the closest place). So I hope that everyone who's able to go enjoys themselves. I hope for a full report when you get back. 8) Where I stand is I can wait the extra five days for my chance to "Train" with the rest of ya but just barely. I would just be happy to be in the crew roster. I've been on the crew for a few weeks now.

The Sleeping Princess is... GONE?! :( That's sad. I haven't been following the site for the last couple of hours because I've been taking a calculus exam. Before my test, though, I managed to talk to SP. She wanted me to draw her a picture of herself where she's beautiful and smart and yet invisible to the Queen. But now she's gone... Even if I finish it and send it, she won't be there to see it. How unfortunate. And yet, all of us saw this coming a long time ago.

what do you guys think about that breif flash in the commercial with the brute hitting the unarmored covie. ok for those who dont know. the covies are more than mindless drones. they accually have a society and they are very religious. and the classes go something like this.
prophets are like priests or something(but you wont see them getting friendly with grunts)
brutes are like the prophets body guards and they are like knights in the middle ages.
elites are mostly fighters. very intelligent. not as high up on the social ladder as brutes. thats why we didnt see any brutes on halo.
jackels and grunts are basically infantry. not respected much. much like peasents.
drones, no freaking clue
and from what ive heard. brutes might not be big fans of elites. so there might be some tension there. this brought back my point of a covenent cival war type thing. i dont know which race of covies will side with which faction. but im sure they will part somehow.
back to ilb,
listened to the wav files this morning. ok finaly some plans getting thrown around. so next week we will most likely see an infiltration of chawla. they find the artifact. and. GASP!!!! its not what they though it was. and some how they are put in alot of danger. the covies finnaly attack afetr breathing down our necks, metaphorically, from space. then after some fighting. or before the fighting, havent decided yet. there will be a new enemy introduced. and then......wait for it....wait for it....yep thats right, all hell breaks loose in the galaxy. and what do we do then. do we go answer phones? do we go steal lawn orniments. NO. master chief comes down and opens up a 50 gallon drum of kick ass. then he contiues the ass whooping process by going into space. and somewhere in this asskicking-fest. one of the 3(mabey more?) sides gets really strong. and then two sides must join up. then together they must, yes thats right, kick ass, possibly take names. im not sure if theyll have time. that my theory about halo 2. ill be sticking with it till im proven wrong on nov 9th.

I think kevjuice is right more-or-less about the covie social structure and hte civil war seems highly plausable to me....exept here is how i think the races rank....
Profets (obvious leaders in the covie rank, although it seems to me that they might be using the whole "Holy War" thing, to gain power, more than religous compellment)

Elites (They seem to be second rung seeing as how they are the bulk and highly acclaimed race of the covenant military, the Elites seem to believe in the "Holy War", and making me think that the Profets are using the religious influence to further their own power)

Brutes (These seem to be more of the Secret Service to the Profets, and probably believe in the "Holy War" also...The only reason i think that the Brutes are not as highly ranked as the Elites, is because they posess no energy shield, and i figure that if Elites get more procautionary protection than Brutes, they must be higher up in the chain...so to me Brutes are 3rd rung on the covie ladder)

Hunters (these guys are most likely an enslaved race of the covenants and dont belive much in their ideals...but they are like the big stupid goon in an old 20's Gang movie...that is just strong and used for his brute force)

Jackles (they are mainly just cannon fodder with a round shield...we know about the jackles...and they are probably an enslaved race of the covies also, not sure what they say so i can just assume they dont care much for the "Holy War")

Grunts (1hk little things put in to take up time and waste ammo....gotta admit that they are one of the more fun part of Halo and great way to relieve stress)

i feel sad the SP is gone...she seemed to have a sense of humour about her that niether dana or the operator have. i liked reading her posts. anyway, i don't blame you dana, you did what you had to, it's just sad that it had to be like this. we should be focusing our energy on the enemy (although SP sould have been the enemy, i am not really sure).
anyway, "utilizing squad-oriented combat simulation LIVEware" how sweet is that??? being neither a crew member or anywhere the coords, i envy those of you that will be there. obviously you probably won't learn very much of the story as you will be playing on XBOX LIVE [LIVEware}, but it would still be SWWEEEEEETTTT!!!!! besides, bungie wouldn't give any of the plot away anyway, becuase someone would be sure to come back here and tell everyone and ruin the surprises(s). i am just glad nobody here gave anything away from the pirated version. after waiting this long and all the build up, it would be a total let down to know what happens in the game by any other means then experiencing it yourself as you play it. i can't wait!!!
how long after halo 2 is released do you think the ILB site will stay up for??? i am guessing the operator may be leaving us on sunday as she has stated on the 404 page, not sure where she is going tho. if she does leave on sunday, does that mean this is our last set of .wav files???

The background of SP is so glaringly obvious. Durga is suffering from split personalities (which is actually different from shcitzophrenia). SP is the innocent, curious part of Durga that has the mentality of Kamal's little sister at the time the military used her brain for the Cognitive Mapping procedure that created Durga. As Durga begins to cry at the end of "The Girl Had To Be Real," she even sounds like SP. Melissa, then, must be the ruthless, utilitarian side of Durga. Would that mean that when Melissa returns to 2552, Durga will become uterly ruthless and be a some kind of threat? To whom, I don't know, but no one will want to be in Durga's crosshairs once her "Melissa" personality takes control...
Nobody can... Okay, nobody *should* fault you for doing what you thought you had to in order to protect somebody you love. I certainly can not...
However... Now that everybody is safe.

i dont think the AI's are gonna play a huge role. because then all the halo fans who never got interested in the ilb craze. they wouldnt just throw out some charactor noone knows. they might mention them. but i doubt it will play a big role.
I think the SP is still alive. At the worst, she is in her coffin thingy which she escaped last time. I think soon they will join to be one. Soon it will be complete.

PoS, About the drones, it says in the newest XBN: "By virtue of their speed drones dont pack too much armor, making them easy prey if your patient. The bad news: Taking them down uses up the remainder of our battle-rifle clips." It also says that they're fast quick and evasive: "gives...Halo battles a completely different dynamic; not only are drones fast and cunning, but their ability to zigzag through the air forces you to take the fight vertical as you're literally engulfed by a horde."
Doesn't sound like too much fun.
Also, i think it was you PoS, maybe someone else, but someone when responding to kevjuice's theory on the covie heirarchy (sp) said that they think the elites are second in command over the brutes b/c they have more protection in the shields or w/e....well i was just thinking maybe the brutes are seperate from the covenant, but they were like brought in against the humans with like a promise at a part of whatever it is the covenant want on earth. Like a "if you help us win, we'll give you part of the treasure" kind of thing. And so the brutes and covenant (mainly elite) would probably have a thing against eachother, sort of like a who's better kind of quarrel ya know? And that they think they're better than the elites b/c they dont rely on an energy source for protection, just their "brute" strength...kinda like with the ODST's and the spartans....
Anyhow this post turned out longer than intended, but any commentary on my random and ranting theories (right kevjuice?) would also be appreciated.

Crew members wishing to ensure participation should follow these procedures:
Send a communiqué through the killer's usual channels. In the header, list the city where you will be attending the training exercise, followed by your name and rank. For example:

Each crew member must send in one and only one registration from a separate and unique account. Group registrations will not be accepted.
Arrive at the mission coordinates between 16:45 – 17:45 Pacific time and announce your presence to the attendant, who will check your name against a roster for priority admission.

i dont belive your theory that the elites are not part of the covenent. they are a part of the covenent but i do not think there ranked higher than the brutes. mabey those special elites with the weird orange armor on. but brutes are like personal body guards to the prophets.
if anybody is in the covenent for the reason you said(promises of whatever is on earth) it would have to be the drones. because no where in the books even hint about these new creatures. so either the prophets recruited them because of the recent human attacks(halo, unyeilding hyrophant)or they are also a race enslaved by the covenent.
but what i dont understand is why wait so long to call in for reinforcments. even after the loss of many many ships when the UY went down. i dont think it was because they were being hesitant to call for more ships. but they didnt want anything to affect there main goal. advancing towards earth.
another thing i just noticed was at the end of first strike they talk about punishing the one who lost the ascendant justice(probably the captain of the ship before it was taken over by MC) but they dont say what the punishment is. all they said was let his fate match the magnitude of his failure. and considering that *his mistake* caused the destruction of countless covenent ships. im sure this punishment will definatly be some tenaciously fucked up shit(my bad).

On the topic of Durga and Melissa. It is important to remember that Jersey gave Durga her name after she showed up on his system, so Durga is not her real name. Melissa on the other hand seems to know her name IS Melissa, so more than like Durga's real name is Melissa. Just thought I'd clear that up since most people have it backwards.

Sarah, I'm about 89% sure, enough to bet money on. I read some interesting info before the "event" but I'm worried about "observation". I'll lay it all out after sunday, but by then the truth might be completely revealed and then there is no point in even voicing my opinion, If any one wants to talk about it just post a way that I can reach you, I use AIM, Yahoo instant messenger, and MSN messenger so if anyones not comfortable using their e-mail theres lots of other ways to reach me. The theory isn't anything revolutionary but its well grounded. I'm fairly certain I'm right. Or we can all just sit back and enjoy the ride, but I'd rather meet the situation on my feet.

Maybe I shouldn't keep my cards so close to my chest, but it just seems like they moniter these blogs. Well i guess I just spill it. I think someone already mentioned that SP left a message about a plan the queen had about sending her back to her brother, that didn't involve time travel, deletion, or the glass coffin, so if SP was right then whats the worlds easiest most natural method of time travel? Dormancy! anyone ever played Chronotrigger, if you did the side quest to save the forest youll remember, you just drop robo off in the past, let him labor for years till his job is done and he wears out, then pick him up in the future and re-initialize the bugger. Place SP in a state of dormancy, and she will be sent to her brother soon enough. There were also some other ramblings hidden on the sight at one time that hinted at letting the queen think she knows whats going on then hiding somwere new, so if she isn't dormant then she is letting the queen believe she is gone "mission Acomplished" should be a big hint. There's some more smaller peices of evidence but I'm running out of time, If anyone has any other Ideahs or can poke some holes in this theory please go ahead. Oh and I would really like to hear details from those speeking to the princes at the very end, I think there could be some good clues there. But once again my hesitance for posting this info is that Malissa may wath them in wich case I could just have caused the real death of SP. But this Blogg is the best form of comunication we have so I might as well use it and hope the people running this ARG wont pay any mind. Once again if you can think of any flaws please poke away!

Or maybe you were from the start. I don't know anymore.
Okay, new idea. Not a big revelation or anything, but everyone else has shared what they think is gonna happen, so here I go.
Melissa is going to leave on Sunday like she says. If she's going back to the future (ONE POINT TWENTY ONE GIGAWATTS!!!!!!!... sorry, Back to the Future humor) then she must have managed time travel so she can send some axons for us in this time. Or if she's going to destroy herself because she's 7 years old, she'll leave some kind of time release axons or something that start themselves... anyway whatever she does, because she's connected to Durga it will have repercussions in the wav files we get next week. Either melissa will become a part of the sound files we get to here and maybe have some info for Jersey Kamal Jan and Rani about the tru7h since she seems to know a lot about it (all her talking about durga having a partial understanding of the tru7h), or if she destroys herself on Sunday, something bad may happen to durga in the sound files. I'd figure the former over the later, since the sound files are recorded from durga nothing too bad can happen to her at least untill the sound files are COMPLETELY done. Man I'd really hate to miss out on the ending because durga didn't last long enough.

Personally, I don't think there will be any axons on Tuesday. Melissa was giving us these axons and she cant' do it if she's gone. Either there will be a special Sunday axon hunt, or there will be no hunt at all. If the latter is true, then Melissa will simply leave the server, and in her wake leave one final, huge, .wav file to end all .wav files. If this happens, it she will most likely accredit it to a rip she puncture in the time space continum just before she leaves that brings the .wav file here. I find this unlikely.
What I believe is most probable is there will be a Sunday Axon hunt, one with many live calls. She will use these live calls to assisst in leaving our time, much like the last axons were used to destroy the Princess. By answering axons, we will recieve the .wav file and give Melissa enough power to return to her time.
Either way it all ends Sunday.

Hey Guys, I think we shouldn't care so much about the princess. What the Queen has done is just to shut down the processes of a sleeping AI that was spying without even being aware of the fact she was doing it. Sounds familiar? I bet it does because the SP is just Durga when she sleep-spies. The Queen can't kill Durga, she can just try to shut down the processes of the activity she carries out when she is sleep-spying.

The little girl voice is not the Queen, it is the SP making the calls. The voice is propably Yasmine's voice when she was around 6 or 7 and she was kidnapped. I know it can be sad but Durga is going to die quite soon even without the Queen trying to kill her. Durga is reaching the end of her life as a smart AI.

When this is over shortly I wonder if some of you guys wouldn't be interested in forming a Halo 2 clan something like "welovebees" - or maybe someone could dedicate a site (blog) to the people who spent the summer here - so we can share our experiences in Halo 2. There will undoubtedly be easter eggs galore in this game and most of them will only make sense to the Bees Clan who have delved more deeply into the Halo mythology than your average shooter.
I followed along and got lost somewhere in mid Sept - my original premise was that a new game would be out soon featuring Jan James as the Walkaway girl - think that we're probably hell and gone from that idea.

ok ive heard alot of talk about an ilb clan. so i think ill try to start one. im open for suggestions for names. i figured the elders or ilb elders. let me know if you have a name for it. im not good with any kind of website design. so if someone knows how to make a sweet website for a clan. then please step forward. i know some of you havent played halo before but are looking forward to halo 2. i am mainly looking for more experienced players. but ill allow anyone in. but i cant gaurantee that you play in every clan match.
only serious players should join this one. i do take a lot of my clans seriously. but im not gonna be TOO serious. ive seen some clan leaders flip out when other clans members fool around and try to have a good time. im not like that. the only time im serious about a clan is during the match or setting up matches everynight.
thats another thing. if we want to be a decent ranked clan. we have to have matches at least once every two days. im hopeing for a lot more. but dont be disguraged if you know you wont be on everynight. you cant still join. im not gonna get mad if you miss a clan match either. i know its just a game. and i know it wouldnt be your fault. people do have jobs outside of xbox live. and alot of clan leaders dont relize that.

Well, what it looks like the flea is trying to tell us is the password for the sunday axons. If you haven't seen them yet, listed on the recipe8 page is the set of upcoming axons with a message saying these are special axons that broadcast sunday. The way it sounds is the password to make the axons go hot is "Yasmine Zamat" or Zaman or whatever her last name is. Anywho, that's what it looks like to me, so hopefully alla the axon hunters get to those on time. If the operator also plans to leave us sunday, who knows how many opportunities there will actually be to reach those phone and I REALLY WANT TO KNOW HOW THIS STORY ENDS!!! After all we've been through it would suck to miss out on the end.

One thing that may happen in the last part of the story now that SP and Melissa are one, if there is anything the Queen may have been hiding from durga about chawla base and the artifact, maybe she'll let durga know about it now.
The biggest thing that may come of all this thought is what this means for AI. Supposedly smart AI can only live 7 years and then die or go crazy from rampancy, BUT the military apparently has always put them out of commision before that happens. Now here we have an AI, Melissa/Durga, that's been going rampant, but we (not that I myself can take much credit for it) put it's brain back together again, SOOOO what does that mean? Is it POSSIBLE for AI's to last longer than 7 years? If so, why hasn't the military tried to keep them around longer and maybe fix them or something? Hey, they can just send them back in time to us, we know what we're doing now, we can fix em.

Since it seems a lot of you are completely clueless, here's the run down of what happened today. The information on contactme.html has nothing to do axons; it's a completed puzzle that resulted in merging the Sleeping Princess with the Operator.
At 9 am, the site updated with a (massive) list of new axons and corrupted images. The images assembled together four seperate stories describing the Sleeping Princess in both her former life and as an AI, mostly offering up one essential hint for the puzzle that was to come. We soon discovered the Pious Flea's text on the contactme page, which read:

The Flea says that he's searching for the friends of the Sleeping Princess, and that if any of us can help him to use Margaret's channel (ladybee777@hotmail.com). So several of the regulars in chat began emailing the Flea lines of code, using trial and error to develop a step-by-step procedure to solve the puzzle. When we gave a wrong command, the Flea would respond with:

or would simply just not respond. If we were headed in the right direction, though, he would send a response performing the action that we had requested as well as the result, which was then posted on contactme.html. This went on for four hours, during which we found that the princess was once more a hidden process that was heavily encrypted and required a password to access. We attempted "Yasmine," and were met with the response that it had failed as it was an incomplete password. We tried again with "Yasmine Zemat," which failed as an "unknown password" (we had misspelled it). We tried once more with "Yasmine Zaman" and were met with success.
From there we analyzed the process again, finding that it had sustained an unknown amount of damage before instructing the Flea to attach the Princess' process to the master-sector (the Operator). Dana, I'm glad your aunt is safe. I'm also glad to hear that the Princess is safe, those three wavs that were posted on the 404 page were quite touching and now I know more about why people were so upset. It sounded like you guys had a lot of fun. But, come 11/09, we'll be having fun once more!

what do people think of the special broadcast. is it gonna be a video? i think there giving this one to us. because all we need is 4 out of every set. and all the phones answer at once. and the time span between all the groups of axons is only 5 mins. that just enough time to listen to the wav file. were not gonna have to work on this all day either.
i think these axons are gonna rap up the story. and then leave us hanging untill halo 2 is released. an 8 day wait.

Crazy idea here... I have the slightest feeling as many do that Durga is from the future. What if one of your goals in Halo 2 is to get Durga to go to the past after Earth is attacked, so that she can find Kamal, Jersey, Rani, and Jan and get them to stop the artifact from counting down. Then the Covies don't attack Earth in the future. This is only guessing: it would be smart if they sent the artifact as far as possible and restart it to send the Covenant as far away as possible. Also I don't know if anyone else noticed but in the commercial they showed another ring getting blown up. I guess you also have to destroy all the other ones. Won't take as long as it does in Halo does either, you won't waste your time following another Guilty Spark, for example. Just drop down there, plant the bomb, and RUN AWAY!

i love this!!!! new wav files every 5 mins. by the time you watch it you only have to wait 3 mins. this way the story doesnt loose its intensity. the story progresses much quicker now. and i was sick of that 30 mins wait everyday.

I don't think there will be any more .wav files now. I think the last fortress will all be in text, and explain the aftermath of today's .wavs.
